Then Green over Blue twice. Trim the ends. When I first started making these, they took me awhile — like an hour, and I made lots of mistakes. But I practiced and now I can make them in about 10 minutes each. The clipboard is a genius idea. In the eighties I tied them to chairs and that forced me to stay in one place always, which can get dreadfully boring. Thanks for this great tutorial, now I can show my daughter how to make them! I love that friendship bracelets are still in after all these years!
I think my six year old son is too young for this project. Who knows? If I could get him to make one, imagine all the quiet time in my house ;-. Wow, these bring back memories. Use to make these all the time when I was younger. This was a great tutorial. Good job Mimi!! This brings back so many memories — I made hundreds not kidding of these back in the day! Mountain hermit by day, stitch witch at night. The way you make the ridged, woven looking surface of a friendship bracelet is by making lots of small knots.
First you need to decide what order you want your strands to be in. This will determine the order of the color of your rows. Once they're in order, grab the first two strands. The strand farthest to the left is going to create your first row.
Take the first strand, and pass it over the second strand, and then behind as shown in the photo. It is important you knot OVER the second strand, it'll give it the right look. Now hold the second strand taut, and pull the first strand up and towards the large knot. Pull until you meet resistance, but not any harder! This will create a small knot on on the second strand.
Make another knot by tying the first strand around the second strand again - just repeat what you did before! Make sure you're making TWO knots on each strand. Keep going until you have inches of knotting done. Did you make this project? Share it with us! I Made It! Faux Chenille Scarf by Bellacricket in Sewing. Reply Upvote.

If you didn't get that, try watching the video. When your bracelet is the length you want, tie a normal knot below the last row, just like you did in the beginning.
Then, separate the strings into 3 groups and braid them together. When your braid is 1. Cut off the excess string just below the knot. Your bracelet is now done and ready to wear! Simply put it on you or your friend's wrist, and tie the 2 braided ends together in a double knot.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Question 3 years ago on Step 2. Thank you so much! Mine have been turning out weird ever since I started making them, and turns out I was just doing the knot wrong. Thanks for the video on how to do it :.
